Mothers of PreSchoolers (MOPS)

May 13, 5:15 pm - March 25 - 8:00 pm 2021  |  Black Box Theater

4185 Indian Head Highway, Indian Head, MD, USA

MOPS encourages and equips moms of young children to realize their potential as mothers, women, and leaders in relationship with Jesus and partnership with a local church.”

The MOPS meeting will provide a safe space for moms to connect face to face and heart to heart. The monthly 3-hour session will start with a hot meal for the family. The moms will then move into the meeting space while their five and under children participate in their program staffed by vetted adults. The topics presented will vary from month to month. Meeting the needs of the diverse Indian Head community is a top priority. For example, in March Helen Gerald – Nutritionist will present Creative Healthy Meal planning on a tight budget. In April, “Moms put your oxygen mask on first!” Coming up with a self-care plan that will work, presented by a mentor mom, a mental health counselor, and a somatic therapist. The meeting will conclude with a small group time to share and discuss thoughts. Mothering small children can be isolating, exhausting, and joyful, all at once. MOPS will provide a space for mothers to feel supported and heard by other mothers and mentors. The Catherine Foundation of Waldorf will be providing material assistance (diapers, wipes, and baby clothing) at each meeting as well. Food pantry items will also be available for families as they head home.
